Today we talked about medical problems and practised question sentences and there is/there are structures. Homework: read about William Shakespeare on page 49 and do the handout. Also do exercise 5 on page 52 and exercise 8 on page 55.

Today's topic was attraction. We discussed among other things cosmetic surgery, tattoos and piercing.

Improve your English - seventh meeting

Today we learnt about Celia and different organizations in the UK. We also looked at the differencens between do and make. Homework: read the text 2 on page 36-38 and do exercises 6 and 7 on  page 39 and exercise 9 on page 40.

Today we discussed golden age. Homework: read the text on p 30-32 about Celia. Do exercises 1-3 on page 33 and the make/do handout.

We discussed vegetarian diet today. Homework: read the text on page 60 and do the handout relating to the text.

Tänään jatkoimme perheteemalla ja kävimme kirpputorilla kyselemässä tavaroiden hintoja. Homework: s. 36, teht. 18 ja s. 37, teht. 20 sekä s. 40, teht. 2.

Today we revised past simple (imperfekti) and did some listening exercises. Homework: read the new text on page 46-47 Tragedy and romance.

Sentences to translate:
1. Syyslomalla matkustin siskoni kanssa junalla Pohjanmaalle. Matka kesti noin neljä ja puoli tuntia.
2. Junassa oli paljon matkustajia, mutta meillä oli hyvät paikat ravintolavaunun vieressä.
3. Viikonloppuna katsoin brittiläisiä sarjoja netistä. Uusi suosikkini on "Breathless", joka kertoo lääkäreistä ja sairaanhoitajista 60-luvun Englannissa.

Today we discussed different social benefits and also visited a hairdresser's. Homework: Handouts on prepositions, tenses and proverbs & similes.

English Upper Intermediate - 5th meeting

Today we continued with our food topic and learnt about Mediterrenean diet and its good effects on our happiness. Homework: finish off the tense handout.

Practice makes perfect - fourth meeting

Today we talked about shops and shopping. We also revised past simple (imperfekti). Do exercise b on page 35.

Sentences to translate:
1. Teen elintarvikeostokseni lähikaupassa, mutta tänä viikonloppuna kävin myös ostoskeskuksessa, koska tarvitsin uusia talvivaatteita.
2. Perjantaina katsoin "Vain elämää" tv:stä, mutta se ei ollut yhtä hyvä kuin viime syksynä. Artistit olivat viime vuonna mielenkiintoisempia.
3.  Olen toivoton ruoanlaitossa, mutta lauantaina tein makaroonilaatikkoa ja se oli aika hyvää.
