Steps 3 (Mäntsälä)- thirteenth meeting

Today was our last meeting. It has been nice teaching and learning with you. Thank you all.

Steps 3 (Mäntsälä) - twelft meeting

Today we learnt about the job of a firefighter Robert Waterman and did some listening exercises. Homework: do exercise 18 on page 91 and read the text on page 92 (exercise 21).

Today we talked about jobs and did some listening exercises. Homework: read the text on page 88-89 and do exercise 16 on page 89-90. Do also exercise 19 on page 91.

Today we talked about different work places and jobs. Homework: do exercise 10 on page 85 and the grammar handout (perfekti).

Today we started a new topic about jobs and careers and talked about different work places. We also did some grammar exercises perfekti). Homework: Do the grammar handout (perfekti).

Our topic today was shopping and we did some listening exercises and a questionnaire on shopping. Homework: do exercise 19 on page 75 and translate the sentences on page 76 and read the text (exercise 20).

One of our topics today was important little things. We also talked about clothes. Homework: read the text on page 69-70 and do exercise 11 and 12 on page 70-71.

Today we started our new topic about shopping. We talked about different materials and clothes. Homework: do exercise 2 on page 65, exercise 4 on page 66-67 and exercise 6 on page 68.

Today we did little bit of everything; speaking, listening and some grammar, too. Homework: Do exercise 20 on page 52 and exercise 5 on page 59.

We read the text about Terry and Julia who live in the countryside. We also did some memory card exercises and listened to CCR. Homework: exercise 11 on page 48 and the grammar exercise about the Beatles (handout).

Today we talked about homes and furniture. We also revised some grammar (genetiivi) and listened to music. Homework: do exercise 9 on page 47 and read the text on page 48-49 and do exercise 13 on page 49.

Our new topic today was Home sweet home (steps 3) and we listened to some people telling about their homes. We also did a preposition exercise. Homework: read the text (exercise 6) on page 45 and do the exercise 7 on page 46.

1. Asun uudessa rivitalossa lähiössä, mutta viisi vuotta sitten asuin kerrostalohuoneistossa kaupungin keskustassa. 
2. Ystäväni asuu vanhassa omakotitalossa maaseudulla. Minäkin haluaisin asua maaseudulla, koska siellä on niin rauhallista.

Today was our first meeting in 2013. We discussed our highlights in 2012 and our plans for 2013. We also did some exercises on be and have verbs. Homework: do exercises 20 and 21 on page 37.

Our topic today was Christmas with Xmas words and music. We also did some exercises on questions. Homework: do exercise 15 on page 33 and read the story about Marilyn Monroe (handout) and answer the questions.

The course will continue on the 9th of January 2013. Have a nice Christmas holiday!

We read about Sara and her life abroad. We also revised was/were verbs and listened to Frank Sinatra.
Homework: read the text on page 32 and do exercise 14 on page 33.

1. Lauantaiaamuna soitin ystävälleni ja päätimme mennä sauvakävelemään,  koska sää oli aivan loistava.

We discussed how we learn languages and listened to some people telling about their learning experiences. Homework: read text on page 27-28 and do exercise 8 on page 29.

We started a new topic Live and learn. We also did an exercise about prepositions and listened to Roy Orbison. Homework: do exercise 2 and 3 on page 25 and exercise 4 (verbs) on page 26.

One of our topics today was small talk. We also did some picture dictation and listened to music. Homework: do exercise 13 on page 19 and translate these sentences into English:

1.  Aion matkustaa Englantiin ensi kesänä. Siksi opiskelen englantia joka keskiviikko aikuisopistossa.
2. Olin ystäväni kanssa elokuvissa viikonloppuna. Katsoimme uusimman James Bond elokuvan.

We did different exercises like listening to music and a picture dictation, among other things. Homework: do exercise 14 on page 20. No class next week, because of the autumn break.

Our topic today was changes (p.16-17) and we practised telling what we are going to do. We also did some past simple (imperfekti) grammar exercises. Homework: read the text on page 17 and do exercise 10 on page 18. Read the irregular verbs from stand to think in your old book on page 185.
